Battlestar Galactica Webisodes To Get Extended Treatment?

by Groshan Fabiola on 2007-09-22

With the fourth season of the sci-fi series, Battestar Galactica, coming out some time next year, the minds behind the show have found a way to ease the painful anticipation of BSG fans around the nation.

First, of course, came the announcement regarding the BSG made-for-tv movie, which will serve as a supplement to the upcoming season. The movie, which is actually more of a miniseries, is also set to aur a few months ahead of season 4. Then, there’s the loose storylines connecting season 2 and season 3, which perhaps have led many to turn to their imagination and come up with their own fantasy “spin-offs.”

Speaking of “spin-offs,” BSG creators have hit another goldmine with their production of Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance. BSG: The Resistance is a ten-part series consisting of two to five minute long webisodes, which can only be viewed at Sci Fi channel’s official website. The first webisode came out on September 25, 2006, and the rest came out twice a week until the third season of the show premiered on October of the same year.

The story featured on the webisodes basically painted a picture of the events that took place between season 2 and season 3. Colonel Saul Tigh, who is portrayed by Canadian actor Michael Hogan, was presented as the leader of The Resistance and as the highest military official of the New Caprica. Other characters that made an appearance on the webisodes were James “Jammer” Lyman, Tucker “Duck” Clellan, Specialist Cally and Chief Tyrol.

If some unfortunate incident caused you to miss some or all of the BSG webisodes, you will be happy to know that that BSG season three DVD also contains Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance, among other special features. All the webisodes have been combined into one, along with some cut scenes from show.
