Buying A Low Cost Air Purifier: Do You Really Gain?

by Jason Uvios on 2007-09-22

The higher the cost; the better is the quality. Sounds cliché? You really can't take it as an absolute rule. But you can't even put it down. In some way or the other there is a connection between cost and quality. And in no way you can ignore it.

Very likely if you buy a high graded and expensive air purifier you will surely be able to afford many facilities. Yet you can't bet on its supremacy because there is always a probability of something better.

The concern over here is not the higher rates but focused on the low cost air purifiers and how much efficient they are in cleaning the air.

A judicious comparison

When it's a question of 'better' a comparative study is required. Here let's not take a high profile and too costly model of an air purifier. One model is cheap and the other is standard.

To set an example you can go for the Surround Air low cost models like XJ 2000 Air purifier. It is available just at $79. On the other hand you can pick up a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Compact Quadra (IB) which will cost you something double this amount. The cost price comparison is clear but feature-wise and efficiency rate has to be judged thoroughly. Then only you can decide upon the presumption that you can also be benefited with low cost equipments.

Check out the pros

- The low priced air purifier requires no replacement or alteration of air filters.

- It is highly energy efficient. The current consumption is not high.

- The parts of the machine are fixed and not heavy. None of them need any sort of alteration. You can otherwise regard it to be a one time use.

Thus the positive sides of this air purifier are significant. You just can't take them for granted.

Cons are critical

As the pros attract you to buy a low cost air purifier, the cons might pull you back with the same force.

- The raw materials used in the manufacturing process are of low grade and poor quality. The one time use prospect is in fact a boomerang. Thus you cannot use the device for years.

- The performance level is dissatisfactory. Moreover a low priced air purifier strongly emits and deposits ozone in the atmosphere. Health hazard due to ozone layer in your home are obvious.

- The peaceful ambience of you house will be disrupted as such machines produce loud and unwanted noise constantly.

The differences have been made crystal clear before you. The final choice is of course yours. But if you are really not bankrupted please go for a good quality air purifier. It is after all related to your good health and well being.
