Bvlgari Perfume - Spelling It Is Hard, Loving It Isn\'t
by Shauna Moline on 2007-09-24Here's a new word for you English majors - Bvlgari Perfume. Like it? It's how the old Romans wrote Bulgari, and the company that bears the name thought it looked cooler that way (I don't know that, but I bet it's the truth!). Does that mean that you can't run a search for Bulgari Perfume? No, in fact a lot of perfume marketers actually spell it Bulgari, because they figure their customers aren't going to remember to put a V instead of a U. Would you remember it?
Bvlgari makes a lot of things - perfume (I think the title gives that away), watches, sunglasses, and more. They're a pretty famous designer label and their perfume is said to be a must-have if you're nominated for any kind of Hollywood award. Although not as well known as other brands like Tiffany's, they have a more dedicated fan group. For example, Bvlgari watches are widely considered to be comparable to Rolex (in quality).
If you're wondering why it's so pricey, take a look at one of their main ingredients...roses. Now you're probably thinking, "Hold on, roses?" But let me finish. Know how much it takes to make 1 ounce of pure rose oil? The answer is...4000 lbs. of rose petals! Holy cow! No wonder those bottles cost $100!
Bvlgari has many perfumes on the market but one of their more popular ones is Rose Essentielle. Its main ingredients are blackberry, living mimosa, patchouli, and of course, rose oil. Thankfully, rose isn't the sole ingredient. If it was, Essentielle would probably cost a couple thousand dollars for their smallest bottle!
One of the more realistic and fun options Bvlgari perfumes provides that many other designer perfume makers don't is that they sell tester sized bottles. They are usually are sold online, so you need to fire up the old Google and your old noodle in order to find them.
One type of store that does sell them is a discount perfume store. These bottles usually do not have the fancy designs and packaging of their larger siblings, but do you want to buy the bottle or the perfume?
You could also check eBay for tester bottles, but do be careful. What you see isn't always what you get on eBay...and sometimes you don't even get anything! Be sure that you check the feedback rating of each and every seller; it should be over 99% and it should have a few hundred reviews, at least. Also make sure that you never send money by wire - that's just wrong in so many ways!
For those of you wondering what a bottle will cost, let me tell you. $90 to $130 will get you a 3.4 oz bottle of Bvlgari Rose Essentielle at a a department store, but if you shop at a wholesale perfume store, you'll be able to bring it home for about $50 or $60 dollars. That's not a typo...you can really score this perfume at over half off. Just make sure and let your best friends know, so they don't feel left out of the circle.
