by Veronica Krully on 2007-09-24

University biology majors may be getting ready for a variety of careers. They could be future teachers or veterinarians. A biology major could be a professor or a wildlife scientist. And they could leave their university with a stack of money to pay back.

To follow their ideal careers, biology majors often need more than an four year education. As you begin to prepare for university be sure to set aside some time to look at your ideal plan for biology scholarships.

Which biology scholarships are available to you may depend on your specific area of program. Some are given out simply by financial considerations, others by educational ability. Many biology scholarships are dolled out in the form of grants for research. These may be general research grants, or for study in a particular field, part of the country or time of year. For example, a graduate school or association may offer a student resources to learn about reptile life in the Northwest in the spring.
