Comedy Podcast

by darkforces on 2007-09-23

Podcasting has been getting more popular as more people discover just how useful and entertaining they can be. One type of podcast that is getting an ever larger audience, is the comedy podcast. For a comedian that is not yet well known enough to get their own show, they can be a great way of gaining popularity and becoming more well known. Even if a young comedian gets a break in the theater, radio or TV, they are not likely to be the star and as such are not usually in control of their own show. But if they have their own podcast, they are not only the star but they can also get the ideas, write the script, edit the show and make sure that every aspect is the way that they want it. They are paying for the site that it is on, so they can do the whole show the way that they want to.

This means that if you are looking for a comedy podcast to listen to, you will find everything from the mild traditional comedian, to some very outrageous and also avant garde shows. But because they are usually either free or have a very cheap subscription, there is no reason not to have a good look around until you find something that you really like. The RSS feeds that podcasts usually use make it even more convenient as you do not even have to check back for new comedy podcasts, you are automatically alerted when a new edition of your favorite show is uploaded, so that you can listen to it at your leisure.

A lot of more experienced comedians are also beginning to use this new medium, including some very big names indeed. This is because of the ease with which they can be made. It must be very good for the bigger comedians to just be able to make a simple show that they can give to their audience, without the years of planning and the endless meetings and compromises that TV shows need. Of course the big names are not going to leave TV for podcasting, but it does give them a new and very simple way to get their work to their fans, as well as the more traditional ways.

Listening to a comedy podcast is a great way to discover both new talent and also to get some more from some of your old favorites and looks set to increase in popularity. And with the new Video podcasts becoming more popular it is likely to get even better.
