Complete the Braking System With a Trusty Brake Pad

by Logan Taft on 2007-09-24

Mercedes Benz is known to have a rich legacy of luxury, quality and goodness. This three-pointed star automaker has made it a point to make its huge mark of success in the industry of automakers and they did a good job of doing so. With the quality they put into the luxury cars they make, they made loyal patrons out of their customers. Their repute has gone beyond their homeland and extended over the seas to other countries as well. The revolutionized cars they exported to these countries were welcomed with much anticipation and the customers didn't get disappointed.

Along with the luxury cars they're known to make, they also coupled it with so much power. But as written in an article before, Mercedes sees it fit that a car with so much power should have double the power in protection, that's why they specifically design themselves the braking system fit for their cars. Protection should be negotiated with just any materials but must be with only the finest quality – this is the idea they integrate whenever making the safety measures that Mercedes Benz models should have.

So as expected they give equal attention to their Mercedes Benz Brake Pad as much as they do with Mercedes Brakes, Mercedes Benz Bumpers, and all the other protection devices they install into cars. A Mercedes Benz Brake Pad is a crucial part of the braking system and it is equipped with their drum or disc brakes. A Mercedes Benz Brake Pad is a steel backing plates with friction chained to the surface facing the brake disc or drum.

So what do these Mercedes Brake Pad actually do? They have the important role of converting kinetic energy of the vehicle into a thermal energy through friction. A brake pad is heated up when it comes into contact with either a drum or rotor, and then it transfers small amounts of friction material to the disc or pad. This is exactly the reason why a brake disc has a dull grey. Then, since the brake rotor and disc both now have with them a friction material on, they will then stick to each other to provide the force needed for the stopping power. But it remains that the Mercedes Benz Brake Pad is the one responsible for the majority of stopping power. The usual setup is that in disc brake applications, there are Two Mercedes Brake Pads per disc rotor. And these brake pads are held in place by the brake calipers attached to the wheel hub or suspension upright. And in drum brake applications, these brake pads are bound to the wheel hub or mounting plate, with the friction surfaces pushing out against the inside of the drum.

There are various types of brake pads and Mercedes Brake Pads are one of them. The difference lies on the quality of materials used and the actual performance of these brake pads when already used in the car. Since people are extra cautious nowadays, with road accidents just happening now and then, they intend to abuse their brakes, depending their life on it to protect them from accidents. With the heavy burden brakes are faced into, it is a must that every part of the braking system is always in its proper condition. Brake pads are prone to wearing out after a long time of using it and so a constant check on its condition will help a lot in telling drivers if a replacement of it is already needed. Upon replacement, be sure to check the market for the best quality brake pads like that of a Mercedes Benz Brake Pad.
