How To Choose The Best Professional Organizer For You

by NathanShaw on 2007-09-23

The past decade has seen life become increasingly sophisticated yet far less labour intensive for most of us. If you want to get and stay ahead, make use of professional organizer services, or what I call 'efficiency services'.

We are beginning to run our homes like a business, where we outsource more and more tasks to other companies. Consider a few of the efficiency services that you outsource to already. Delivery services, car wash, launderette, home maintenance like electricity guy, plumber, etc.

But that really isn't enough. That level of outsourcing has been ok until the past 10 years. Now that we are moving into higher levels of lifestyle, we expect and really can have far more. That is where quickly learning how to best organize comes in.

Imagine what a professional organizer working for you could do for your personal organization. Everything comes from organization. I consult with many people to organize everything in their life, organize goals, organize home, organize time, etc. I have chosen three core tips to help you choose a professional organizer that is suitable for you personally.

It is vital for he or she to be able to listen to you the client. If the he/she can not fully and completely listen to everything you are about and where you are coming from they will never be able to take you to a level of personal organization that satisfies you.

This selection process can be a cause for anxiety itself, which defeats the point of organization services. So here are some key insider tips from a professional organizer, on how you can choose a good professional organizer for your own style and way of doing things.

Do a search online or in your local business directory. Make a list of 10 professional organizers. Contact them one by one via phone or email. Let them know you are contacting 9 others to try to find one suitable for you. This will stop them from 'hard selling' you on their service. You then make yourself breating space to consider each professional organizer without anxiety.

If they have one, check out their website. Read some of their articles. Read their reply email or hear them out by phone. Thank them for their time and tell them that you have enjoyed the conversation (if that's true) and that you still have the others to contact before making your decision. A good professional organizer will understand your desire to look around.

Score them on 'How interesting and thoughtful they're products and articles are'. 'How good they listen to you and hear you out'. 'How they're email response made you feel about them'.

Those three factors will probably give you enough to be able to make a decision to get started with occasional consultancy with a professional organizer.

Using a professional organizer will allow you to maximize the life opportunities you can take advantage of. Life is too precious to lose time because of areas of disorganization. I hope this has been worth your time.
