Scrapbook: How to Create Unique Scrapbook Photo Album for Mother\'s Day Gift

by MJ Millares on 2007-09-24

I believe we can all agree that moms deserve to feel special everyday. This Mother’s Day is your chance to do just that. Escape from the traditional gifts such as flowers and chocolates and put a little more effort on your Mother’s Day gift this year. After all, she deserves it. Give mom a gift that will remind her of what a great mother she is.
Scrapbooking is an excellent and affordable way to remind your mom how special she is everyday. If you are not familiar with scrapbooking, do not worry because it is very easy to learn. Scrapbook is so popular that you can find resources and kits online and your local craft store.
Scrapbook photo album gift for Mother’s Day is preferred if you have enough photos to create at least 10 scrapbook pages. If you do not have enough photos available in your hand, that’s okay. You can still get your mom a Mother’s Day Scrapbook. The main concept of this project is to tell a story using photos and short captions on how great your mom is.
First, you will need a Scrapbook Photo Album or a Memory Book. You can easily find one in a Hallmark store, but I highly recommend designing one because you can add personal touches on your gift. Craft stores have a variety of photo albums available that are simple and easy to design. I suggest you use a post bound photo album for this project. Post bound photo albums works great for scrapbook projects because you have a control on the thickness of the album and it’s has an elegant appearance.
If you need assistance in designing a custom photo album, please visit my article, Create Unique Photo Album Design. Companies such as EmJee Designs and Roxie Shop offers services in designing a custom photo album based on your specifications.
Now that you have a scrapbook photo album ready, you can start designing your scrapbook pages. If you do not have enough photos to create at least 10 scrapbook pages, just design the first page of the scrapbook. The first page of the scrapbook is where you are going to add your personal touch especially if you bought a pre-designed scrapbook photo album from Hallmark.
Remember that the first page of your scrapbook acts as an introduction to the rest of the photo album. Since your scrapbook photo album is dedicated to your mom, the first page should be about your mother. You can do this by placing a beautiful picture of her and add a Mother’s Day greeting or poetry with it.
Your mom will love this unique scrapbook photo album you made especially for her. She will enjoy adding her treasured photographs of you and your siblings in this photo album. So make sure that there are enough blank scrapbook pages that she can use.
If you have a lot of photos available, I highly recommend that you create the rest of the scrapbook pages. The best and simple option is to arrange photos of you and your mom in chronological order. You will be showing to her how her hard work on raising you paid off as you grew older. If you can, arrange photos as follows:
Pregnancy pictures of your mother. You can add a title, “Where it All Began.”
Baby pictures. You can group these by type of activity (e.g. walk to the park; bathing; etc.). Make sure that your mom is in the picture too. Title for scrapbook page would depend on the activity.
Kindergarten pictures. You can also add your artwork when you started schooling. You know how hard it was for mommy to let you go.
Graduation pictures. It is your parents’ proudest moments to see you walk on the stage and get your diploma. Show your mom how you did it all because of her support.
Current photos of you with your own family. You can add mother’s day greetings of her grandchildren too.
The main concept of the Mother’s Day Scrapbook is to show her how much you appreciate her hard work raising you. Show her through your artistic décor of scrapbook photo album how you did it all because of her support. For every moment she opens this book, she knows how much you cared and value her as one of the most important women in your life.
