Want to drive safe? Be responsible!
by tapan on 2007-04-06Indian traffic conditions have always been a matter of debate for all those who feel unsafe while Driving on Indian roads. First of all the roads’ conditions are not that well suitable to support the kind of driving people tend to do in India and secondly people are not so worried about adhering to the basic traffic norms while driving.(unfortunately!)
Because of these traumatic reasons Indian roads are more famous for their being accident prone than their being comfortable and safer. In fact road accidents and loss of life and property through these accidents is so common in an Indian scenario that people don’t even try and put it as an issue to be solved on a national level.
In these kind of situations where some of the people ,organisations and web sites have come up in order to provide their services to educate people about the safer measures while driving and keeping themselves and others safer through the better driving practices is really appreciable.
It is true that nobody knows what would happen with him/her the next moment but it is also certain that people can at least try and act wisely in order to make themselves safer. For the same we all should try and share the best practices amongst ourselves in terms of traffic rules, better servicing of our vehicles, and of course some safer practices like :not talking on the mobile phones while driving, not trying to overtake the person from a wrong side, always trying and driving in the specified lane, trying and driving in a set speed for the particular route, following the traffic signs, fastening the seat belts while driving, putting the volume of the stereo on a moderate note etc.
All these measures can sound very basic while we listen to them but these are some of the very few magic measures which can improve on the driving conditions. Apart from that one should also try and adhere to the traffic lights while trying to cross a route as that is the highest accident prone area where one gets hit even if he is not driving a vehicle and is just walking.
Traffic rules in india are not just meant for those who drive a vehicle but they are also meant for all the pedestrians as well. Pedestrians should use the underway to cross a particular path, they should walk through zebra crossing in order to cross a road, and they should not try and run though the roads as that might results into a grave accident.
As a conclusion, in order to have a safe run on a road one should try and act as a responsible person. That is how we can save ours and others life as well.
