Why is it impossible for groups like Hamas, Al-Qaedi, and Hezbola to lose the war on terror? Here are thirteen reasons for starters.

1. They have figured out how to exploit freedom in their fight against freedom. The human rights organizations and the civil rights lawyers of America and Europe are prepared to defend the terrorists in court. All that any terrorist in custody needs to do is use the language of freedom to maneuver public opinion against America and Europe. Terrorists can fight by any means, including kidnapping, torture and beheading, while Westerners have to play by the rules of international law.

2. When terrorists fail in their plot they still win. Though twenty-one alleged terrorists were arrested in England, the terrorists succeeded in changing security operations at airports in Great Britain and America. Airline passengers suffered from greater searches, longer delays, no-beverages or liquids onboard. Not to mention heightened security codes along with the assignment of security guards at key sites. The result? We spend more money on security and suffer more inconvenience even when the terrorists fail to execute their plot.

3. The terrorists only have to be right one time, while the security apparatus of the terrorists' target has to be right 100% of the time. We've heard that before. If we uncover their plot 99 times, but not the 100th time, the terrorists win. Thus, terrorist cells function like science labs that keep conducting one experiment after another until they come upon one breakthrough.

4. When you arrest or kill one terrorist you create more terrorists. How can you defeat a group of people whose number cannot be reduced by capture or death? A terrorist gives up his body via suicide bomb knowing that when he dies ten other suicide bombers will take his place.

5. Terrorists have no country or government to defend or lose. They are not an army with uniforms. They are scattered in countries around the world, including their target countries. Remember that movie, "Sleeping With The Enemy"? That describes the so-called War On Terror. The terrorists are among us, in our midst.

6. The terrorists have succeeded in splitting the world into two camps. Some nations have lined up behind the terrorists, whom they choose to call freedom fighters. Other nations side with America and Israel. This global schism strengthens the hand of terrorists.

7. Global media have tilted the scale of world opinion in favor of the terrorists. Wars are no longer won by superior weaponry (unless it be with lightning speed) but in the court of public opinion. And the terrorists have won that battle again and again. Even when terrorists kidnap, torture and behead some journalists, it does not matter, because the news media will just blame the leaders of Western nations for the atrocities of terrorists.

8. The terrorists root their ideology in religion, which, unlike politics, is not open to compromise or negotiation. While deal-making is the heart of Western politics, religious people cannot lower their "moral standards", considered the "word of God" to them. How can they take away from what they believe God has said? We are fighting a religious war with political means.

9. The terrorists, being ultra-conservative Muslims, thrive on their contempt for Western culture. That means, the only way they lay their weapons down is for Westerners to lay down their freedom, part of which is women's rights, women displaying and exposing their bodies in sexy clothing. President George Bush is not the real reason why terrorists want to get rid of America. Islamic terrorists hate the culture of New York and Hollywood more than they hate George Bush.

10. They have no fear of death. Thus, there is nothing left to threaten them with. How can verbal threats having to do with economic sanctions, isolation by the world community, etc, deter those who are convinced they win when they are killed?

11. Civilized people have lost the guts to fight a bloody war. By nature, war is designed to produce a winner. But Westerners do not have the stomach for a prolonged war in which thousands of people die, especially when the images of destruction are splashed across television screens. The short-attention span of Americans is not made to win The War On Terror.

12. They have underdog status. No matter what nation the terrorists go at it with, they will be seen as "David" and that nation as "Goliath". Even a scratch by David on Goliath is considered a win! Naturally people root for the little guy, the underdog.

13. The terrorists know all this! And that's the scariest reason of them all.
